The need to act urgently in the maritime-port sector means that the time is right for the creation of this Superlab

The need to act urgently in the maritime-port sector means that the time is right for the creation of this Superlab on Climate Change for the Maritime-Port Sector and the Port of Valencia, through the Valenciaport Foundation, is well positioned to lead this project, supported by EIT Climate-KIC, which has dedicated one of its eight large-scale demonstration projects for the next four years to this sector.

#SuperLabPorts has been designed to be the meeting point between the different agents and stakeholders. One of its main purposes is to apply an open innovation strategy, through the co-design of demand-based innovative solutions that can be developed and implemented in the Port of Valencia that contribute to achieving a net zero emissions challenge in 2030.

The initiative has been promoted by three agents: EIT Climate-KIC, one of the Knowledge Innovation Communities promoted by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a leader in innovation against climate change; the Valenciaport Foundation, an initiative designed as a tool for the projection of the Logistics-Port Community of Valencia; and the Port Authority of Valencia, a public body responsible for the management of the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía.

With the creation of this first Hub specialised in innovation and entrepreneurship in climate change, the Port of Valencia is set to become a world reference in the fight for decarbonisation in the maritime and port sector.

SuperLabPorts is a joint initiative of EIT Climate-KIC in Spain and the Valenciaport Foundation, with the support of the Valencia Port Authority.
